Every year the UNM Staff Council announces winners for the Outstanding Supervisor Award, which recognizes phenomenal leaders in the workplace. These supervisors have an important impact on the staff experience at the University. The recipients create work environments that facilitate work-life balance, professional development, and effective leadership.

63 unique staff members were nominated for the award this year. The 2021 awardees are:

  • Sever Bordeianu- Professor Sever Bordeianu is currently the Director of Technical Services and Outreach Librarian for Philosophy/Religion, Foreign Languages, and English.
  • Sarah Shrum Davis- Coordinator of the Emerging Infections Program at The University of New Mexico. Davis’ areas of specialty are in infectious disease epidemiology and outbreak response and prevention. Courses currently taught by Davis include Pandemics Past and Present and Infectious Disease Epidemiology.

UNM Staff Council honors outstanding staff by giving them the recognition they deserve through a variety of awards like this one. The Outstanding Supervisor Award recipients will be honored with a plaque and $1,000 cash award. In addition, nominees will receive a $10 amazon gift card. 

The 2021 Outstanding Supervisor Awards Ceremony will be held Oct.15 at 1:30p.m. This event is to be held virtually via Zoom. Those with questions can email scouncil@unm.edu.

The UNM Staff council is an elected body that serves as the voice and advocate for staff at UNM. The council partners with other university constituent groups to provide input into the governance at the university.
