Law students with The University of New Mexico’s Expungement Law Clinic are hosting a hotline, inspired by National Expungement Works' Week of Action and Awareness, aimed to help individuals across the state gain employment, receive promotions, qualify for loans and much more by cleaning up their records.

From Monday, Sept. 27 through Friday, Oct. 1, UNM School of Law is partnering with Peake Law Firm to offer free advice and information to New Mexicans who may benefit from the expungement process.

The movement began four years ago with the intent to help citizens remove the stigma that is left over from a charge or a conviction for a criminal offense. Since the inception of expungement in New Mexico in 2020, many individuals have been able to clean up their records; however, many people are unaware of the advantages of expungement or if they even qualify.

Individuals may call the hotline at 505-750-7702 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
