The New Mexico Senior Olympics (NMSO), Inc. is recruiting volunteers in support of the 39th Annual State Senior Olympics Summer Games to be held July 19-23, 2017 at various locations around Albuquerque including The University of New Mexico.
The NMSO Summer Games will attract more than 900 athletes from all over New Mexico and neighboring states competing in more than 100 events in 27+ sports
UNM is providing the facilities for several of the athletic venues, dorm space for athletes and parking on campus. NMSO is working with UNM Housing, Johnson Center (for the Natatorium) and Athletics for the Track and Field facilities.
Volunteers are needed for scorekeeping, timers, line judge, athlete check in, hospitality and result tabulation; volunteers can indicate preference for sport and time to work.
Volunteers who can work a four-hour shift minimum will receive an event t-shirt, certificate and invitation to attend a kick-off event. Participating as a volunteer is a wonderful community service opportunity.
All game volunteers will be required to attend a Volunteer Orientation. The volunteer orientation will be held at two different times to accommodate the working force, dates and times to be announced. All volunteers will receive specific assignments from the Sport Coordinator associated with the sport. Sport Coordinators will require that volunteers make themselves available for training and/or practices before the Games begin.
To volunteer, visit online volunteer registration. Deadline to sign up is Saturday, June 17.
