Jeff Zumwalt, associate director of utilities at the UNM Physical Plant Department (PPD), has been selected as PPD's interim director. Zumwalt will replace Mary Vosevich, who is leaving the University to take a position as vice president for Facilities Management at the University of Kentucky. His appointment is effective Sept. 1, 2014.

The selection committee consisted of Chris Vallejos, associate vice president of Institutional Support Services, Mary Vosevich, Andrew Cullen, associate vice president of Planning, Budget and Analysis, and Bob Fondino, Health Sciences Center chief budget and facility officer. After conducting interviews of highly-qualified candidates, the hiring committee selected Zumwalt.

“Jeff will have a positive impact leading this department with a more than $70 million dollar budget and staff of over 400 employees,” said Vallejos.

Zumwalt has worked as an associate director at PPD for over 11 years and has more than 23 years in facilities management. He began his career in the utility industry in 1991. Over the course of his career, he has worked across the southwest in California, Arizona and New Mexico, and understands the region and the challenges that come with facilities management in a desert environment.
