Elizabeth Yakes Jimenez is an research associate professor in the Departments of Pediatrics (Division of Adolecent Medicine) and Internal Medicine (Division of Epidemiology Biostatistics and Preventive Medicine) with an MS in Public Health Nutrition and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology. She is also the Director of the Nutrition Research Network for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the Director of Envision New Mexico.

Expertise

  • Preventing and improving the treatment/management of obesity and diabetes in New Mexico, particularly among underserved populations, children, and emerging adults, via public health and school-based interventions and policy change.
  • Preventing micronutrient malnutrition in women and young children through fortification and food-based approaches in global settings.
  • 12 years’ experience working in research and community based projects in the United States, Southeast Asia and East and West Africa.
