The much-loved Cuddle a Canine event is set to take place on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the northwest corner of Smith Plaza outside Zimmerman Library. Hosted by University Libraries, this heartwarming initiative aims to provide comfort, support, and relaxation to the UNM community as they navigate the challenges of the fall semester.

Cuddle a Canine invites students, staff, and faculty to interact with therapy dogs and their dedicated owners from the Southwest Canine Corps of Volunteers. With over 30 years of experience in offering pet therapy, the Albuquerque-based organization boasts more than 70 members and multiple dogs devoted to spreading joy and relief throughout the community.

The event is organized by University Libraries Access Service staff, Lucia Pierce and Tomás González, who have helped organize the event each semester since 2022.

All members of the UNM community are invited to join Cuddle a Canine on Oct. 24 to experience the therapeutic benefits of spending time with these furry companions. Don’t miss this chance to relax and unwind during the busy fall semester!
