UNM Facilities Management (FM) would like to inform the UNM campus community that a portion of Las Lomas Road will be closed the morning of Thursday, Sept. 23 to accommodate the unloading and installation of a chiller unit at the Lomas Chilled Water Plant.

Here’s what commuters need to know:

Project Area
The project is taking place at the Lomas Chilled Water Plant on Las Lomas Road between Yale Boulevard and Stanford Drive across from the McKinnon Center for Management (see map below for details).

Time and Dates
The work is planned for Thursday, Sept. 23 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Closure & Traffic Impacts

  • To accommodate the crane required to unload the chiller unit, Las Lomas Road will be closed to vehicle traffic during the times listed above.
  • Pedestrian access on both sides of Las Lomas will be limited. The north side will be closed for the duration of the project, while the south side, adjacent to the McKinnon Center, will be closed intermittently during the unloading process or as deemed necessary for safety by the work crews on site. Caution should be used if walking in the area.
  • Flaggers will be present to redirect vehicle and foot traffic as the situation requires.

Jaynes Corporation is the contractor for the project. The project lead for Facilities Management is Craig Barnard, and he can be reached at cabarnard@unm.edu or (505) 277-1131.
