The University of New Mexico Foundation has announced the hiring of Joe Weiss as the new senior director of Development at the UNM Anderson School of Management.

Weiss earned his MBA from the Anderson School in 2006 and for the past year he has worked at the UNM Foundation as Regional Director of Development in Texas and Oklahoma.  He earned his undergraduate degree in 1996 from Binghamton University in New York.

In addition to having strong ties to UNM and the Anderson School, Weiss is also a loyal Lobo, having spent 17 years working for UNM Athletics as assistant athletic director in charge of Sales/Marketing and general manager of Lobo Sports Properties.  As senior director of Development, Weiss will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift donors and prospects for the Anderson School.

"I am so excited to join the Anderson School of Management Team!” says Weiss. “As a graduate of this outstanding school, I cannot wait to be part of this group and help connect donors to Anderson so the school can do even better things in the future."

Dean Craig White looks forward to Weiss returning to the business school.

“The whole team is ready to embrace Joe’s leadership, experience and enthusiasm,” said White.

"Joe is a perfect match for the Senior Director of Development position in the Anderson School of Management,” says Larry Ryan, vice president of Development at the UNM Foundation. “When you combine his work ethic, his love for UNM and the Anderson School, and his ability to raise philanthropic dollars, we are more than excited about his new role."

Weiss' first day at the Anderson School is Tuesday, January 3.  He takes over the position from Emily Fox who served as Anderson’s development officer for the past three years.
