Albuquerque Rapid Transit, more commonly known as ART, is up and running on Central Ave. Through ART, the community can visit UNM’s campus with ease through the UNM/CNM stop located at 1806 Central Ave SE and the UNM/Popejoy stop located at 2340 Central Ave SE.

Two ART routes—Route #766 ART Red Line and #777 ART Green Line—begin service at 5:45 a.m. daily. These new routes have replaced the two Rapid Ride routes that currently run on Central and serve two UNM-specific bus stops

Both routes will originate at the Central and Unser Center. Route #766 ART Red Line will serve the Uptown Transit Center. Route #777 ART Green Line will go down Central to Tramway.

Currently, all UNM staff, faculty and students are able to ride ART along with any other Albuquerque busses through the Free Bus Sticker Program. Participants must meet eligibility requirements. Students must be registered for at least three credit hours. Former staff, faculty, retirees and temporary staff/faculty are currently not eligible.

Bus pass stickers are distributed at the Transportation Information Center in the Student Union Building, Parking and Transportation Office in the Cornell parking structure or the UNM Hospital Parking and Transportation located at 1129 University BLVD behind Carrie Tingley Hospital.

Non-UNM personnel can purchase ART tickets at the ART platforms or at the Alvarado Transportation Center. ART routes will be free through Jan. 1, 2020. After New Year’s, fares will be $1 per trip or $2 for all day. Anyone aged 62 and up, mobility impaired or students aged 10 through high school will be 35 cents.

Service hours will be Monday through Friday from 5:45 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Saturday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
