Associated Students of The University of New Mexico (ASUNM) is holding the 57th annual Arts and Crafts fair in the Student Union Building (SUB) ballrooms. The fair is Dec. 1-3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

The ASUNM Arts and Crafts Studio is an open jewelry and ceramics workshop. A membership to the studio gives students access to various art tools and instructors.

Held by the studio, the annual Arts and Crafts Fair consists of almost 60 artists this year. Artists are both UNM students and Albuquerque community members. The fair allows them to showcase their hard work.

“What I enjoy most about the fair is bringing together a very diverse set of artists, knowing that they get to network amongst each other and grow the art community of Albuquerque strong,” said Aleja Grajeda, the executive director of the arts and craft studio.

Semester memberships to the studio are currently available for purchase by faculty, staff, and students. Volunteer and workshop opportunities are listed on the ASUNM Arts and Crafts Studio website. Those interested in the studio can call 505-277-6544 or email thinkart@unm.edu.

“There are many things that I love about my work and my job here in the studio. Staff is amazing and very talented, which makes it easy to work with them and I actually learned quite a bit,” Grajeda said. “Another one of my favorite things about working here is seeing how much talent and skill there is in one room, as well as watching beginners accomplish something for the first time. I know how wonderful that feeling is, and I get to see people experience that feeling almost every day that I come in.”

The Arts and Crafts Studio is in the SUB on the Plaza Level in Rm. 1098. The studio is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
