For 17 years, the BeKind UNM Committee has helped spread kindness across campus with its annual celebration during National Random Acts of Kindness Week each February. And this year, the fun is back - and bigger than ever, with the Lobo community invited to join crowd favorites like the Kindness Carnival, two exciting Teddy Bear Toss events at Lobo basketball games, and help support the Lobo Food Pantry.

Things kick off with the FREE Kindness Carnival on Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the SUB Atrium. That evening at 7 p.m., the first Teddy Bear Toss takes place during the women’s Lobo basketball game against San Jose State at The Pit. A second toss is set for Tuesday, Feb. 17, also at 7 p.m., during the men’s game against Air Force.
The Kindness Carnival will be filled with games, a photo booth, music, therapy dog cuddles and a donation drive for the Lobo Food Pantry. Bring a donation and you’ll be entered to win an awesome grand prize: a $25 Dion’s gift card, a $25 UNM Bookstore card and a Sparkie stuffed bear from The Jennifer Riordan Foundation.
At each Teddy Bear Toss, fans can bring a brand‑new stuffed animal to throw onto the court at halftime - a heartwarming moment that shows what being a Lobo is all about. Attach a label with your name and contact information for your chance to be entered to win one of several grand prize baskets packed with goodies from local community partners like the Albuquerque Isotopes, Dion’s, New Mexico Look/Zia Graphics, UNM Bookstore, Popejoy Hall and UNM departments.
Every stuffed animal collected will be donated to children throughout New Mexico via Albuquerque Police, Albuquerque Fire Rescue, and other organizations that assist youth in crisis.
