The Physical Plant Department (PPD) is looking for building coordinators across the UNM campus as it begins to host Building Coordinator meetings every semester. The first meeting is on Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. in the Education Classroom Building (67) room 103. The purpose of the meeting is to educate and collaborate on a series of important facilities topics including safety and emergency preparedness, building maintenance, how to place a work order and general facility management operations.

Building coordinators have many responsibilities such as recognizing safety hazards, reporting them appropriately, informing building occupants of who to call when problems arise, distributing important building information to occupants and being the point-of-contact for facilities personnel. These meetings are designed to support the work Building Coordinators do by recognizing specific issues and educating them on proper procedure and course of action.

In future meetings, Building Coordinators will be trained on emergency preparedness and response. “We know that many building coordinators are also tasked with emergency preparedness and response functions, and therefore it is important for them to have this base-line training,” University Emergency Manager Byron Piatt said.

"The Physical Plant Department is excited and motivated to engage this community and provide the needed resources to aid in the success of the UNM campus," Physical Plant Director Mary Vosevich said.
