Dr. Jon Houck, research assistant professor at The University of New Mexico’s Center on Alcoholism, Substance Abuse, and Addictions (CASAA), has been awarded a 4-year, $1.4 million research grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to evaluate disparities in substance use outcomes.

Specifically, the study will analyze a large sample of audio-recorded sessions with justice-involved youth, to evaluate potential sources of disparities in substance use outcomes between Hispanic and non-Hispanic adolescents.

Houck is currently affiliated with CASAA and the Department of Psychology.  This is his third grant award from NIH since joining the UNM research faculty in 2013.

He earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from UNM in 2011, and his Postdoctoral Fellow at the Mind Research Network (2011-13) and also at UNM (2011-13).
