University of New Mexico Provost Chaouki Abdallah has announced the appointment of Professor Kate Krause as Interim Dean of University College.

"I am pleased to announce Dr. Kate Krause as Interim Dean of University College. She is a highly accomplished scholar in Economics with a strong commitment to undergraduate education.  Dr. Krause has a proven record of excellence as a professor focused on undergraduate education as well as a commitment to student success. She will do an excellent job in her interim role advancing our goals to transform undergraduate education at the University of New Mexico," said Abdallah.

Krause earned her B.S. in Economics from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 1977. She went on to earn a JD from Stanford Law School and her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin in 1996. She joined the UNM Economics Department faculty in 1996. She was a recipient of the 2007-08 University of New Mexico Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award.
