The University of New Mexico College Prep Program hosts the 2011 Summer Law Camp, in conjunction with the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association and Engaging Latino Communities for Education (ENLACE) during June and July. Two five-day sessions are available: June 12 - 17 and June 26 - July 1.
The camp is an opportunity for students currently in 6th or 7th grade to experience college and develop crucial skills in research, critical thinking, teamwork, leadership and debate. In addition, students witness the legal system in action by meeting with judges and attorneys, as well as visiting several courts.
Participants stay at UNM residence halls under the supervision of College Prep Program staff members.
A total of 24 students will be selected to participate in the camp. Applications can be found online. Deadline is Friday, May 6.
