The Water Authority is replacing and realigning old water lines that are in conflict with the proposed ART (Albuquerque Rapid Transit) Project. Construction on this phase of the project is expected to last through Sept., although it could be extended if needed. Regular work hours are Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The contractor may work extended hours or on Saturdays if needed.
Eastbound traffic on Central will be reduced to one lane between Sycamore and Buena Vista as crews work to cut and cap old water lines and abandon them in place as well as repair a broken water valve.
Westbound traffic on Central will be reduced to one lane between Stanford and University and between University and Pine while crews work to cut and cap old water lines and abandon them in place. Both Yale and Stanford will remain open during this work.
Access will be maintained to all businesses and to UNM. Area residents and businesses will be notified in advance of any planned water shutoffs.
