Dennis Herrick, retired lecturer in the University of New Mexico Department of Communication & Journalism, holds a book signing Saturday, Dec. 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Treasure House Books & Gifts, located at 2012 S. Plaza in Albuquerque Old Town. Herrick also offers background on his books, A Brothers Cold Case or Winter of the Metal People.

Herrick’s writing typically explores the American Southwest because of its mysterious allure, scenic vistas of forests, deserts and mountains, along with its tricultural makeup of Hispanics, Indians, a mix of Caucasians, African-Americans and Asians. In Winter of the Metal People read about America’s first named Indian War from the Puebloan perspective alongside the traditional conquistadors’ view of the Coronado Expedition.

A Brothers Cold Case tells the story of the murder of Andy Cornell's brother; how after the case remains unsolved for two and a half years, Andy enters Albuquerque's hidden worlds of cartel violence, street people and Pueblo secrets to find justice.

Both stories make a great last minute gift for any reader on your holiday list.
