Henrard’s extensive history with UNM began in 1997 as a Facilities planner for the Health Sciences Center, and he ascended to the role of director of Planning, Design & Construction (PD&C) director from May 2013 to January 2018. Over the years, he demonstrated exceptional leadership in overseeing major and minor capital projects, collaborating with various departments and stakeholders, and playing a key role in sustainability initiatives, with over 13 LEED projects completed during his tenure.

Before his distinguished career at UNM, Henrard played a significant role in the private sector, holding an Architectural License and a GB98 (NM General Contractors License). His background in the architectural field laid the foundation for his subsequent roles at UNM.

Henrard’s professional journey has been marked by a commitment to excellence and a diverse range of experiences. After retiring from his position as Director for PD&C, Henrard embarked on a unique sabbatical, spending time on the island of Mallorca, Spain. During this period, he served as a Consultant, Life Coach, and Wellness Advocate for Suenos De Vida. Henrard’s role involved supporting professionals in various aspects of planning, design, and construction, as well as contributing to the development of wellness and lifestyle programs, where he strengthened fundamental life habits and leadership skills.

Most recently, he served as the Engineering Services - Institutional Project Delivery (ES-IPD) Team Lead at Los Alamos National Labs (LANL) in New Mexico. In this role, Henrard played a crucial part in co-managing the Vertical Infrastructure team, providing mentorship, coaching, and overseeing new hires' project and training assignments.

Facilities Management Director Alfred Sena expresses his enthusiasm regarding Henrard’s appointment. “Mr. Henrard brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role.  Rick has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of project management and delivery, showcasing his commitment to the advancement and improvement of our facilities. We look forward to the positive impact his leadership will undoubtedly bring to our team and the University community.”

Henrard holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington and has demonstrated his commitment to ongoing education through various certifications. As a bilingual individual with a passion for home gardening, travel, art, music, photography, sports, hiking, cycling, cooking, and family, Richard brings a well-rounded perspective to his new role.
