UNM Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Chaouki Abdallah has invited five finalists for the dean of the University Libraries & Learning Sciences to visit campus Feb. 26 – March 14. The candidates will meet with faculty, staff, students and community members during their visits.
The candidates are:
Scott Walter, University Librarian, DePaul University
Mary Farrell—Dean of Libraries, University of Wyoming
Mary Somerville—University Librarian, University of Colorado Denver
Shan Sutton—Associate University Librarian, Oregon State University
Richard Clement, Dean of Libraries, Utah State University
Scott Walter holds a bachelor's in Russian and Linguistics from Georgetown University, an master's in Russian area studies, also from Georgetown, a master's in education from The American University, a master's in library science and a master's in history and philosophy of education from Indiana University, and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from Washington State University.

Mary “Maggie” Farrell—Dean of Libraries, University of Wyoming. She has a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from the University of Missouri Kansas City, a Master’s in Library Science from the University of Arizona, and a Master’s in Public Administration from Arizona State University

Richard W. Clement— Dean of Libraries and Adjunct Professor of History at Utah State University in Logan. Educated at the University of Wisconsin, the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, the University of Cambridge, and the University of Chicago, he originally trained as a medievalist and then concentrated in the history of books and libraries.
