University of New Mexico Hospitals and the Jonathan Abrams MD Art Gallery hosts an openind reception in conjunction with a new art exhibit on Friday, Sept. 25, from 5-7 p.m.

The exhibition, titled “The Pan's Melody: Worlds Between,” includes recent monotypes and paintings by Dasha Alexandrov. The reception will be held in the Jonathan Abrams MD Art Gallery at the AMbulatory Care Center on the University of New Mexico Hospitals fifth floor.

Alexandrov, of Russian descent, is an avid drawer who creates art that has been greatly influenced by spiritualist and shamanistic practices she encountered in her travels.

"When people ask me what medium I am working in I always hesitate," Alexandrov said. "I love printmaking and specialize in monotypes, but I equally love stone-carving and sculpture in general.  In recent years most of my projects happened to be in painting (because color is so meaningful and so seductive), but probably, underneath it all, drawing is the most important thing for me. I draw almost constantly. Ultimately, to draw is to connect with the Essence of the Image."

The exhibit will be open weekdays through Friday, Nov. 20, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Parking is available at UNM Hospital West Parking Structure located at Lomas & Yale
