The KUNM story "N.M. Governor Tough on Crime, Easy on Business" by Elaine Baumgartel was featured this morning on National Public Radio.
KUNM General Manager Richard Towne said that one or two KUNM stories per year get picked up, but a recent change in the regional editor may mean that NPR will draw more from its affiliates.
Towne also said that the story leads with an acknowledgment of Gov. Susana Martinez being the first Hispanic female governor in the United States. "NPR is following newly elected officials and how they are changing the political landscape," he said.
Baumgartel, Morning Edition host and reporter, plans to complete a master's degree in the UNM Department of Communication & Journalism in May.
