Safe Zone training is a three-hour training designed to increase the community's understanding and awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer questioning, intersex and ally (LGBTQQIA) issues. This training is specifically focused for those on college and high school campuses to assist them as they develop safe zone programs. Participants in the training will gain a better understanding of homophobia, heterosexism, transphobia and LGBT issues in schools.
Individuals completing Safe Zone training will be able to mark their offices or work spaces with a Safe Zone sticker, showing students that these locations are safe spaces to discuss issues of sexuality and identity. Doing so can also provide a greater sense of safety and support among LGBTQ individuals on campus.
Lunch and materials will be provided.
