The UNM Staff Council hosts the Loborrito Luau on Thursday, July 21 from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the SUB Ballrooms, A, B & C. This is an annual event held to show staff appreciation.

The theme of this year’s annual staff appreciation event is a luau. UNM staff will receive a free breakfast burrito and will be entered in a drawing to win prizes.

“Staff are an integral part of UNM and the success of reaching our mission to serve as New Mexico’s flagship institution of higher learning through demonstrated and growing excellence in teaching, research, patient care and community service,” said Staff Council President Danelle Callan. “Giving back to our staff is a way for Staff Council and UNM leadership partners to acknowledge the commitment and expertise staff brings to the office every day.”

The Loborrito breakfast is the Staff Council’s signature staff appreciation event. This year will be the fifth anniversary of it being a burrito breakfast. Previously, the event was a pancake breakfast. According to organizers, Staff Council coined the term “Loborrito.”

“I encourage staff at both HSC and Main campuses to take a break from your important work to attend our appreciation events because what you do for UNM is appreciated,” Callan said.

As the theme suggests, Hawaiian shirts are welcomed at the luau event.
