The University of New Mexico recycling operations will now be managed by the Physical Plant Department (PPD) Office of Sustainability under the direction of Manager Mary Clark. With the retirement of former manager Linda McCormick, the decision was made to move PPD Recycling to this area of the department because of the nature of its operations.

“We are very excited to provide recycling services to the UNM community," Clark said. "Our program is the second largest recycling program in the state. We hope to expand our services and continue to educate students and the UNM community about the four tenets of recycling: reduce, reuse, recycle and repurpose.”

The recycling program has been in operation at UNM since 1997, and continues to reduce UNM's carbon footprint with each passing year. This program has been successful in diverting 31 percent of UNM’s waste from the landfill annually.

If you need to request recycling services, call 277-1600 to place a work order. General inquiries about recycling on campus can be submitted to recycle@unm.edu.
