This week on New Mexico in Focus talks about ongoing problems at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Bernalillo County and efforts to address them ahead of the Frontline special "Prison State," airing on Tuesday, April 29. NMiF talks with Lisa Simpson, who is working on detention reform efforts, Arthur Pepin, chairman of the county Criminal Justice Review Commission and Paul Guerin, who works with UNM's Institute for Social Research. 

New Mexico in Focus airs Friday night at 7 p.m. on Channel 5.1 and appears online at NMiF shortly thereafter. The show rebroadcasts Saturday at 5 p.m. on Channel 9.1 and again on Sunday at 7 a.m. on Channel 5.1. 

Also this week, the Line opinion panel looks at the controversy surrounding Gov. Susana Martinez in light of her comments in meetings with her campaign staf leaked from 2010, the ongoing efforts to reform the Albuquerque Police Department in the wake of yet another shooting death this week and current economic indicators, both good and bad, such as lagging job growth around the state and the acquisition by Google of a drone company in Moriarty.
