This week, New Mexico in Focus (NMIF), wraps up its election coverage in northern and southeast New Mexico — the state’s 3rd Congressional District.

Politics Correspondent Gwyneth Doland sat down with both candidates: Democratic U.S. Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández and her Republican opponent, NM Rep. Martin Zamora.  They ran through a list of constituent concerns: immigration reform, affordable housing, and a lack of urgency from FEMA for families still waiting for relief funds, years removed from the Hermits Peak-Calf Canyon Fire.

Last week, NMIF spoke with Amanda López Askin, the Democratic nominee for Secretary of State. This week, Gwyneth sits down with Ramona Goolsby, the Republican nominee who is running to oversee the state's election system.

Goolsby has been a vocal critic of the office for many years, and she tells us why updating the state's voter rolls would be near the top of her to-do list if elected.

NMiF airs on NMPBS 5.1 (KNME HD) on Friday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 1 at 7 a.m. and streaming on the PBS video app. Involved, informed, in-depth media: watch New Mexico in Focus again online shortly thereafter.
