New Mexico State University has thrown down the gauntlet and challenged UNM to a blood drive competition. ASUNM Community Experience hosts the weeklong event Monday, Feb. 3 through Friday, Feb. 7, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Student Union Building Ballroom C.

Supporting the blood drive, President and Mrs. Frank are scheduled to give blood on Monday. “Everyone wins in a friendly competition like this,” said Janet Frank. “Bob and I hope that by giving blood we will encourage every Lobo on campus to take a few minutes out of their day to help save lives.”

Email tce@unm.edu to sign up or go to United Blood Services and schedule an appointment. Under Find Drives by Zip Code, type in 87131. Our drive is called "UNM Battle of I-25 - Lobo A & B.” Click the day and time desired and follow the instructions. Walk-ups are also welcome, where you can schedule an appointment for later in the week.

Each day of the drive, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., ASUNM Community Experience will also conduct easy cheek swabs to register Lobos interested in being bone marrow donors.

Additionally, everyone who donates blood between Saturday, Feb.1 through Monday, March 3 will be entered into a drawing to win two tickets to the Mountain West Championship men's basketball quarterfinals game on Thursday, March 13. The trip includes a two-night stay at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. The win includes a $25 food credit plus a $100 gas card. The drawing will be held on Tuesday, March 4.

If you can’t donate during the drive at UNM, visit Hoops Madness Blood Bash to schedule an appointment.
