The UNM Staff Council is accepting nominations for the Jim Davis Staff Council Award for Meritorious Service. Named after former Staff Councilor Jim Davis, the award recognizes the significant contributions of an individual to the UNM Staff Council.

To be eligible council representatives must be a current or former staff councilor or standing committee member. He or she must have served the Council as a representative or committee member for at least one year; Must be or have been a member in good standing with Staff Council, standing committees, or ad hoc committees; May not have received the award in the last 5 years; And may not have faculty status.

Established in June 1999, the Jim Davis Staff Council award is named in memory of the former staff councilor, who was a supervisor in the UNM Recycling Department. Davis was the first recipient of the award. He was a member of the UNM Staff Council for more than five years, During that time, Davis served on numerous council standing committees and presided over council meetings as speaker for four years.
