This week's guest on "Report from Santa Fe" is Maude Barlow, a Canadian author and activist. She is the best-selling author and co-author of 16 books, including the international best sellers Blue Gold: The Fight to Stop the Corporate Theft of the World's Water and Blue Covenant: The Global Water Crisis and The Coming Battle for the Right to Water. She is the national chairperson of the Council of Canadians, a citizens' advocacy organization. She is also the co-founder of the Blue Planet Project, which works internationally for people's right to water.

Barlow discusses recent global water events like the water scarcity riot in April 2010 in Mumbai, India where a child was among many people shot and killed for stealing a drink of water. She describes her experience as a featured speaker in Cochabamba, Bolivia, at the World People's Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth. Cochabamba was the site of the first modern water war in 1997. Barlow also explores BP's plans for deep water drilling in Canada's turbulent Beaufort Sea in the Arctic.
