Scribendi, the Honors College publication of the Southwest headquartered here at UNM, is a finalist for the 2022 Pacemaker award from the Associated College Press in the category of Undergraduate Publications.

Pacemaker awards are given to publications including magazines, newspapers, broadcasts, and other informative mediums. Scribendi applies in the literary arts magazine category as a publication produced at a four-year institution. Evaluations focus on aspects such as diversity of producers and content, layout and design, and quality of content.

Magazines must show a diverse creator presence represented throughout the magazine, alongside an original central theme that makes the magazine as a whole come together. Pieces showing an engaging theme and pieces that work well with each other receive higher marks. Pieces must also reflect this high quality with clear photographs and artwork alongside engaging narratives for written pieces.

This year marks the fifth time that Scribendi features as a finalist for a Pacemaker, with previous years being 2006, 2013, 2015, and 2020. Of those years, Scribendi won a Pacemaker in 2006 and 2013, with fingers crossed for a third win.
