UNM Student Health and Counseling, UNM Center for Life and Vallecitos Mountain Ranch are cooperatively sponsoring a weekend retreat for student veterans Sept. 20-23.  The retreat at Vallecitos Mountain Ranch offers a professionally facilitated healing experience in a peaceful and safe environment.

The retreat will offer mindfulness instruction and practice sessions, confidential small group discussions, guided hikes in the mountains and whole group creative activities including journaling.  There will be housing in individual cabins and casitas.

Leaders for the retreat include Grove Burnett, founder of Vallecitos Mountain Ranch and nationally known mindfulness teacher; Stephanie Melver, director of Counseling Services at UNM Student Health and Counseling; and Peggy Spencer, M.D. staff physician at UNM Student Health and Counseling and UNM Center for Life.

Cost of the retreat is free to UNM student veterans. Any student veteran can reserve a space by emailing pspencer@unm.edu with their name, UNM Lobo ID number and contact information.
