One of the benefits UNM offers to staff is the opportunity to take professional or academic development courses and priority registration through Staff as Students.

Twice a year (one held in fall, one held in spring) Staff as Students allows staff to use their Tuition Remission Benefit to take academic or professional development courses with priority registration status. The benefit is part of an effort to improve UNM’s quality of staff and employee morale.

During this event application fees are waived, and paperwork processing expedited. At the event staff assist staff by providing services related to admission, registration, tuition remission benefit and advisement. Staff can network and learn about various degree programs, personal and professional development options, and distance education.

Staff as Students will be held Monday Nov.1 from 11:30 A.M. to 1p.m. in SUB ballrooms B and C. Those with questions can contact Nate Faust-Shucker nfaustshucker@unm.edu.

Staff can use tuition remission for the following:

Professional and holistic development

Academic Development

During the event representatives from the Office of Admissions, Bursar and the Registrar, Continuing Education, Office of Graduate Studies, Employee and Organizational Development and more. Advisors from different schools, college, and programs will also be in attendance. Staff who attend will be able to enter for a chance to win one of three $25 Lobo Cash gift cards if the visit at least four different department booths.
