The University of New Mexico Staff Council will celebrate Staff Appreciation Week in style from May 22-27 with half a dozen events that will cater to all staff, including remote opportunities. Win a prize in the post-event raffle, try your hand at bingo for a chance to win a prize, and donate to the Lobo Food Pantry while you’re at it. A QR code will be provided at every event for check-in.
Monday, May 22, (Move, Music and Melting Monday) offers Move with the Pack, a staff wellness group walk around campus. The goal is to see how far staff walk, and in turn, see how close the group’s combined steps get from the distance to the sun. Submit your steps/distance steps/distance HERE. Check-in at the Health Sciences Center (HSC), Cancer Center, Main, & South Campus, or remotely over Zoom from 10 a.m. to 10:20 a.m.
Afterward, check-in at 12-1:30 p.m. at the Duck Pond Cactus Garden to enjoy a sweet treat while listening to music by the Rodney Bowe Experience and petting High Desert therapy dogs.
Tuesday, May 23, is Tour Tuesday, a day of at least four visits to various spots in Albuquerque. Tours will range from Lobo Gardens, the Physics & Astronomy and Interdisciplinary Sciences (PAIS) Building, Museum of Southwestern Biology, and Zimmerman Stacks. Check-in at any of the above locations.
Wake Up Wednesday on May 24 is advertising coffee and burritos for a chance to stay and chat at four campus locations. Check in times range from 7:30-10 a.m. at HSC Plaza, Main Campus north of the SUB, and the South Campus Student Support Center patio.
Thursday, May 25, will offer Therapy Thursday from 12-1 p.m., which will provide a staff book, plant, and seeds swap with the opportunity to pet therapy dogs. Staff Council recommends you bring books and seeds to trade. Door prizes will be handed out as supplies last.
May 26 is Fun Friday: Cheers with Peers. Relax and enjoy the company of other UNM staff at the Student Union Building Draft and Table. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be provided, and alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
In addition, weeklong activities like Lobo BINGO and a post-event raffle offer some great prizes. Each attended event is equal to one entry into the post-event raffle. Every $5 donation to the Lobo Food Pantry is equal to five entries of your name into the drawing. Win BINGO? Earn five raffle entries, too!
