The University of New Mexico Staff Council elected a new president, a new executive committee and swore in new and reelected councilors this week. New UNM Staff Council President Renee Delgado-Riley will lead the staff over the 2014-15 academic year.
The executive committee assisting Delgado-Riley includes: President-elect Jarrett Hines-Kay; Speaker Mary Clark; Treasurer Cynthia Mason, Grade At Large Representatives Joaquin Baca and Crystal Davis; Precinct At Large Representatives Danielle Gilliam and Gina Urias-Sandoval; Past President Gene Henley (ex officio) and Administrative Officer Kathy Meadows.
Delgado-Riley thanked Henley, the past-president, for his efforts on behalf of the staff over the past year. “Being staff council president is no easy task. To be an effective leader, one must embody the strength and patience to balance the many voices of one’s constituents into one collective message,” Delgado-Riley said. “Through tumultuous times in the budget these last few months, I can’t think of anyone better than Gene to represent us. We want to thank Gene for donating time patience and energy to the cause of UNM staff and rightfully fighting for an equal level of respect.”
New and returning councilors were also sworn in during a short ceremony.
