The University of New Mexico Staff Council will honor Augustine Aragon, Justin Baca and Roberta Chavez as the recipients of the 2018 Outstanding Supervisor Award.

More than 90 supervisors were nominated from across campus and the winners were chosen by the Staff Council Outstanding Supervisor Award Committee. This award recognizes supervisors who actively provide leadership in work environments that facilitate work and life balance, professional development and overall university core purposes and values.

To honor these supervisors, a ceremony will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 16 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the SUB Ballroom B. Nominees of this award will also be recognized at the ceremony. Friends, family and colleagues are welcome to attend.

In 2015, in collaboration with then-President Robert G. Frank, Provost Chaouki Abdallah and Chancellor Paul Roth, the Staff Council signed an MOU to create the Outstanding Supervisor Award. It is also through the partnership with UNM Human Resources that the council is able to recognize outstanding supervisors.

This year, Aragon, Baca and Chavez were selected for this award for their leadership abilities. Aragon carries a supportive and positive attitude; Baca has fostered an environment of collaboration, innovation and communication; and Chavez has used positive reinforcement and open communication. These are just a few examples of how each of these supervisors promote a healthy balance between life and work.
