A memorial tribute for Richard E. Greenleaf, is set for Friday, Feb. 3, at 3 p.m. at the UNM Alumni Chapel on the UNM campus, 500 Redondo Drive NE in Albuquerque, NM.
Greenleaf was a distinguished scholar of colonial Latin American history. With an extensive career in teaching, research, and service, he has been called "one of the most influential historians of colonial Latin America" (Schwaller, 2008) with a sphere of influence that extends across international borders.
Greenleaf received three degrees at UNM, a bachelor's in government studies in 1953, a master's in inter-American affairs in 1954, and finally a doctorate in history in 1957. The renowned France V. Scholes served as his notable mentor.
