Three UNM Anderson students and Anderson faculty member John Benavidez, MBA, won awards at this year’s American Advertising Federation of New Mexico’s annual American Advertising Awards (ADDYs) ceremony in March.
Three Anderson students also took home Student Gold ADDY awards in the categories of Social Media Single Execution and Social Media Campaign. Undergraduates Jules Passell and Joshua Pino won for videos in the Social Media Single Execution category for Neon Zia and NOBULL, respectively. Deion D’Arco won for a social media campaign for the TPG Shape the Conversation campaign, designed to attract ideal candidates for a behavioral science analyst position with TPG Telemanagement, Inc.
Benavidez, Anderson principal lecturer and director of its Rick and Debbie Johnson Marketing Lab, received the 2022 President’s Award. This prestigious award recognizes a company or individual that has made an outstanding contribution to the advertising profession in New Mexico. Through his 25 years as an Anderson faculty member, he has led many student teams to competition wins at national collegiate marketing competitions and partnering with organizations such as Acura, Cadillac, Credit Karma, U.S. Department of State and Subaru of America. With his leadership, competing student teams have won 10 first place honors, five second place honors, and two honorable mentions since 2005.
