The Office of the Chief Information Officer at The University of New Mexico hosted its fifth annual Mobile App Contest during its Demo Day & Award Ceremony held recently at the SUB Theatre.
The Mobile App Contest, which typically begins each fall semester, provides an opportunity for students from UNM and Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) to develop and apply coding skills to make useful mobile applications for the community. Through this effort, UNM and CNM hope to inspire students to develop coding skills which are increasingly valuable in our information economy, and to yield apps that can improve the experience of our students and the community.
Winners include:
- 1st place, $5,000 - Nicholas Folse, “ABQTransit.com”
- 2nd place, $2,500 - Abigail Soward, “Orderly”
- 3rd place, $1,000 - Mauricio Monsivais, “Untitled (Music)”
UNM and CNM faculty and staff provided support to these coding efforts through workshops and mentors.
The sponsors for this year's competition included by Verizon, Lyra and Nusenda.
