The University of New Mexico Community Engagement Center (CEC) is conducting a "Youth for Education" forum to discuss education policy and youth perceptions of higher education on Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Union Building, Ballroom A.
The goal of the forum is to collect data and influence educational policy in order to improve and increase access to higher education. Co-sponsored by New Mexico Civic Engagement Partnership (NMCEP), the forum encourages youth groups from across Albuquerque to host focus groups that give voice to hopes and concerns about going to college.
CEC and NMCEP invite educational policy decision-makers from various levels of local and state government to participate in co-developing policy solutions with youth. In addition to youth and decision-makers, anyone and everyone from the Albuquerque community concerned about access to higher education for the underrepresented are encouraged to attend the forum.
CEC is a UNM campus-wide office to utilize community and university assets to address community identified needs. NMCEP works to create and support opportunities that sustain and engage young voices in New Mexico to have a more just and equitable society.
