The UNM Foundation raised $75 million this fiscal year, nearly twice what it raised five years ago. The Foundation is looking toward the future, welcoming incoming President Henry Nemcik as it continues Changing Worlds: The Campaign for UNM, which has already generated more than $323 million for UNM since 2006.
During F.Y. 2009-10, 17,000 benefactors gave more than 38,400 gifts. In addition, UNMF distributed approximately $15.4 million from the endowment, 98 percent directly supporting faculty and student success. The fund is valued at $283.5 million.
Changing Worlds: The Campaign for UNM has an eight-year goal to raise $675 million for the university. The gifts will be tied into four priorities: student success and opportunity, faculty support and research, campus programs, and capital projects and facilities. These strands align with the university's strategic priorities.
"Outgoing UNM Foundation President John Stropp's vision and resolve has established a strong framework for Changing Worlds: The Campaign for UNM," said UNM President David Schmidly. "Now as Henry Nemcik takes over as Foundation president, we will all be striving to achieve an even higher degree of philanthropic engagement."
