The University of New Mexico is preparing to welcome new and returning Lobos to campus with Welcome Back Days Fall 2019.

Welcome Back Days is organized through Student Activities Center to help students become acquainted and feel welcomed on campus.  

“To all my undergraduate students, we are excited to welcome you back to campus,” says ASUNM President, Adam Biederwolf. “I hope you are ready to hit the ground running with the new semester ahead of us, and I can’t wait for you to experience all UNM has to offer.”

Welcome Back Days are designed to be an opportunity to find out what all the different corners have to offer.

Monday is Departmental Information Day. At the Duck Pond, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Lobos have the opportunity to stop by information from UNM Schools and Departments about campus programs, services and resources. At 12 p.m. President Stokes and other UNM Administrators will be handing out free ice cream and popsicles until it’s gone. Live music from a local musician will be at the Duck Pond from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Tuesday is Safety, Health, Wellness and Recreation Day. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Duck Pond, Lobos can enjoy safety demos, recreational activities and healthy living alternatives at information booths from Safety, Health, Wellness and Recreation departments. UNM’s Children’s Campus will be serving free watermelon from Noon until it is gone. During this time live music will also be playing. Lobos also have the opportunity to watch ALADDIN for free in the SUB Theater at 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday is UNM Communities Day. At the Duck Pond, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Lobos can visit with UNM’s Ethnic, Women’s, Veteran and LGBTQ+ Centers as well as other culturally based programs and departments. Starting at Noon, free green chile stew will be served until it is gone. Lobos can also enjoy Pepsi products over the noon hour. Lobos can also watch ALADDIN for free at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the SUB Theater.

On Wednesday, North Campus also gets a chance to experience Welcome Back Days. Information booths from North Campus departments and student organizations will be on hand. UNM Children’s Campus will serve free watermelon and Pepsi products in the courtyard between Basic Medical Sciences and Nursing and Pharmacy Building form 11:30 a.m. until it is gone.

Thursday is Student Organization Day. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Duck Pond, Lobos have the opportunity to meet and speak with ASUNM Student Government Leaders and learn how to get involved with over 400 student organizations. Over 200 student organizations will have information tables. From 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. students are invited to listen to live music and eat free Dion’s Pizza and Pepsi products served by ASUNM leaders. ALADDIN will also be playing for free in the SUB Theater at 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Friday is Campus Employment and Community Service Day and Alumni Association Donut Day. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Duck Pond, University departments will be on site hiring students for work study and student employment positions. Community organizations will also be recruiting volunteers for their worthwhile events and causes.

On Friday, The Alumni Association will be serving free donuts in the WBDs Food tent starting at 9 a.m. until they are gone. Free Pepsi products will be served over the noon hour.
