On behalf of the honorary degree committee, the Office of the Secretary requests nominations for honorary degrees for those who contributed significantly to cultural or scientific development of the Southwest, or to the spiritual or material welfare of its people. Nominations are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15.

Eminent individuals and scholars who have made significant contributions transcending geographic limitations are also eligible. A successful nominee must have an exemplary record of academic or public accomplishment in keeping with the university's standards of rigor, quality and significance.

Nominations must include a letter detailing reasons for the nomination, biographical information, record of accomplishments and supporting letters. Send all materials to the Office of the Secretary, Scholes Hall 103, MSC05 3340.

Honorary degrees are awarded at spring commencement.
