The University of New Mexico was appointed host for the American Economic Association's Summer Program, as was determined by a vote by the association's executive committee at its April 2011 meeting.

UNM's Department of Economics and the Robert Wood Johnson Center for Health Policy are coordinating departments for the summer programs from 2012-2014. UNM could host for an additional two years upon a positive review from the Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession and a willingness to continue as host.
