The University of New Mexico Global Education Office and main campus Bookstore are partnering to offer a unique event to the campus and broader community — a Passport & Travel Fair on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — in preparation for summer travel.
At this event attendees can apply for U.S. passports through the U.S. Department of State at the UNM Passport Center located in the UNM Bookstore on main campus, visit with travel providers, and find great deals on travel-related products. The first 10 customers can receive free passport photos, an additional service offered by the UNM Passport Center.
The event coincides with the two year anniversary of the UNM Passport Center.
"Since opening in April of 2017, the UNM Passport Center has processed approximately 3,000 passport applications for new passports and minors with a 99 percent customer satisfaction rate," said Danielle Gilliam, strategic projects officer for the Global Education Office. "We are thrilled to provide this service to UNM and the greater community and are excited to celebrate through this event."
The UNM Bookstore will also be celebrating as the collaborating department in the initiative.
“The UNM Passport Center and bookstore have struck a great partnership,” said Carrie Mitchell, UNM Bookstore director. “The new traffic created by the Passport Center attracts additional interest in the bookstore and our travel and outdoor shop. Customers share with us how much they appreciate the bookstore’s services, and what a great experience they had at the Passport Center.”
Information about applying for passports, including required documentation and specific payment instructions can be found at passport.unm.edu.
