The University of New Mexico Veterans Resource Center (VRC) is proud to announce the newly formed UNM Veteran's Alumni Chapter, the first in New Mexico. The Chapter offers an opportunity for UNM alumni who are veterans, active service members, family and community to connect with one another and with current veteran and military students through the bond and camaraderie of military service.
Director of VRC, Marilyn Dykman said, “We are confident that the Veteran Alumni Chapter will help achieve the VRC's goal of providing career advisement, mentoring and community support to our student veterans and their families. Many opportunities exist to empower our returning service members, perhaps none more important than education. With the cooperation of UNM's alumni veterans, it is our goal to enrich the university experience through veteran professional development, veteran to veteran mentorship and internships with veteran-owned and veteran-friendly businesses.”
VRC is recruiting UNM veteran alumni to assume the role of secretary-treasurer. Duties and requirements can be found here. This is a powerful way to give back to fellow servicemembers by helping veterans transition to employment, providing them with internship scholarships and connecting them with businesses in the community.
