Writing Across Communities presents the first "Working with Writers: Recognizing Diverse Discourses" symposium Wednesday-Thursday, March 23-24, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Student Union Building Lobo and Fiesta rooms. WAC invites all students, faculty and staff interested in the teaching of writing and the use of writing across the curriculum.

Special presenters include Tiffany Rousculp, founder of the Salt Lake City Community College Writing Center, delivering a keynote speech on "I have No Idea; Let's Figure It Out: Rhetoric, Collaboration and a New View of Expertise," Wednesday, March 23, 11:15 a.m.-noon.

Topics of round-table discussions and workshops include academic honesty and plagiarism, the genre-based approach, turning a seminar or conference paper into a publishable article, collaborative writing, teaching assistant expectations, student-teacher conferences and English as a second language.

Additional events are scheduled on Friday, March 25, at Central New Mexico Community College.
