Eastbound traffic on Central Ave. near University Blvd. is restricted to one lane from Sycamore to University while the Water Authority works to repair a broken valve, utility officials said today.

The valve broke early this morning during an ongoing water line relocation and rehabilitation project. The Water Authority is first restoring water services to two affected businesses, then will begin repair work on the valve.

During this work, motorists should expect delays and use an alternate route if possible. It is not known how long this work will take or when traffic lanes on eastbound Central will reopen. There are also traffic restrictions on westbound Central in this area due to the ongoing project.

"We are working to make sure all businesses have water and that repairs are completed as soon as possible,” said John Gabaldon, project manager for the Water Authority.  “We will keep everyone posted as we move forward."
