In Spring 2020, UNM launched a Request for Proposal (RFP) to evaluate and select a cloud-based Learning Management System (LMS) that effectively supports UNM teaching and learning activities with an interface that is intuitive, easy to use, and makes efficient use of faculty and student time. UNM currently maintains a self-hosted, on-premise version of Blackboard Learn (branded UNM Learn).

This project was requested by the Academic Technologies Advisory Board based on recommendations from Faculty-led committees under a university redesign initiative from the Office of the Provost. A collaborative project team consisting of Faculty Senate IT Use Committee, the Center for Digital Learning, UNM Online Programs, and UNM IT Academic Technologies developed the text of the RFP. A representative committee of University stakeholders evaluated the responses from vendors over the summer and selected three semi-finalists.

As part of the evaluation process, vendor semi-finalists are offering access to sandbox spaces and hosting virtual demonstrations in September and October. These opportunities will allow interested students, faculty, and staff to test-drive the semi-finalists' solutions and provide feedback on their experiences. If you would like to take part in the evaluation process, please complete this short registration form and confidentiality agreement to get access. The entire Lobo community is welcome and invited to participate.

The implementation of an LMS is a multi-year project and the timeline for transitioning to a new system will vary depending on selected vendor and services. Additional information is available at the Academic Technologies website.
