The University of New Mexico is preparing to welcome students back this fall. That’s why UNM is hosting a series of welcome back events to provide Lobos with opportunities to explore ways to get involved, from departments to student organizations. Welcome Back events will take place Aug. 20 – 27. Welcome Back Events

Friday Night Live - sponsored by Nusenda
Date/Time: Friday, Aug. 20, 7 to 10 p.m. 
Location: Student Union Building (SUB)
Join hundreds of students at the SUB for the first event of the semester. Activities and events taking place include karaoke, a DJ, henna tattoos, a laser tag arena, photo booths, student organization tables and UNM sports teams.

Discover UNM
Date/Time: Sunday, Aug. 22, 1 to 3 p.m.
Location: Student Union Building (SUB) Ballroom
Meet with representatives from various departments to learn more about campus resources and service to support your academic and social success.

First-Year Family Day
First-Year Convocation
Date/Time: Aug. 22, 4 p.m.
Location: Johnson Center
Convocation is an annual event to celebrate first-year students, honor the family and friends that have helped prepare them for this new phase of their academic journey, and introduce them to the UNM Community. A reception will follow convocation from 5 - 7 p.m. at Cornell Mall and the Student Union Ballroom (SUB).

Student convocation and faculty honor processional signup closes Aug. 17 at 11 p.m.

Class Crawl
Date/Time: Aug. 22, 5 p.m.
Location: SUB Mall
New students can stop by the SUB north mall and print a copy of their class schedule and guides will help them find where their classes are on a personalized campus tour. The class crawl is sponsored by the Student Activities Center, Dean of Students Office, and Residence Life

Movie on the Field
Date/Time: Sunday, Aug. 22, 8 p.m.
Location: Johnson Field
Come watch the summer hit Raya and the Last Dragon outside on Johnson Field starting at 8 p.m. Movie on the Field is sponsored by Associated Students of UNM (ASUNM) Student Special Events (SSE) and the Southwest Film Center (SWFC), UNM Greek Life, Student Activities Center, and the VP of Student Affairs.

Welcome Back Days 2021
President's Ice Cream Social & Departmental Information Day
Date/Time: Monday, Aug. 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Duck Pond
Start the first week of classes off right with ice cream served by UNM President Stokes and University Administrators. Stop by the information booths to get valuable information from UNM Schools & Departments about campus programs, services and resources. Free ice cream and live music from a local musician will be available at the Duck Pond from 12 to 1 p.m.

Safety, Health, Wellness and Recreation Day
Date/Time: Tuesday, Aug. 24, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Duck Pond and SUB Mall
Enjoy safety demos, recreational activities & healthy living alternatives at information booths from the Safety, Health, Wellness & Recreation departments at the Duck Pond. Free watermelon sponsored by UNM Children's Campus from noon until gone and live music from 12 to 1 p.m.

UNM Communities Day
Date/Time: Wednesday, Aug. 25, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Duck Pond
Stop by for great information from UNM’s Ethnic, Women’s, Veteran, and LGTBQ Centers as well as other culturally-based programs, departments, and student organizations. There will be a live performance from 12 to 1 p.m. Enjoy Pepsi products over the noon hour and free green chile stew sponsored by UNM Food from noon until gone.

North Campus Welcome Back Day
Date/Time: Wednesday, Aug. 25, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: Lawn southeast of Domenici Center
Stop by the lawn just southeast of Domenici Center along Marble Ave for North Campus Welcome Back Day. Information booths will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enjoy free watermelon sponsored by UNM Children’s Campus and free Pepsi products.

Student Organization Day
Date/Time: Thursday, Aug. 26, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Duck Pond
Meet and speak with ASUNM Student Government leaders and learn how to get involved with the over 400 student organizations on campus (200 student organizations will have info tables). Listen to great live music at the duck pond from 12 to 1 p.m. and pick up free Pepsi products from noon until they run out or free Dion's Pizza from noon until gone.

Campus Employment and Community Service Day
Date/Time: Friday, Aug. 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Duck Pond
University departments will be on-site hiring students for work-study and student employment positions. Community organizations will be recruiting volunteers for their worthwhile events & causes. The UNM Alumni Association will serve free coffee and donuts from 9 a.m. until gone. Free Pepsi products will be served over the noon hour. Enjoy music from 12 to 1 p.m.
