During this time of social distancing, UNM Staff Council is finding new ways to appreciate the hard work of staff at The University.
Typically, Staff Council holds Staff Appreciation Week in May, but it was one of the many things to go by the wayside due to COVID-19 precautions. Nevertheless, Staff Council is finding new ways to honor and encourage staff.
Last month, the Staff Council Rewards and Recognition Committee decided to take the money typically used for Staff Appreciation programming and give it back to UNM Staff. Each staff member will soon have $7 loaded onto their LoboCard or HSC badge. It doesn’t expire and still allows staff to enjoy a treat while remaining safe.
“We were desperate to find ways to appreciate staff in this time of crisis of the pandemic,” explained Joe Lane, co-chair of the Staff Council Rewards and Recognition Committee. “We would have liked to have found ways of appreciating our Frontline Essential workers but felt it important to appreciate all UNM staff since we were not able to safely gather together in person for our usual staff appreciation that we usually do in May.”
The LoboCash can be used at several locations on and off campus – see the complete by clicking here. Staff on Main, South and North campuses will receive the LoboCash.
